Ashley Dalton
Ashley Dalton, Labour’s candidate for Rochford and Southend East, has called for the government to rethink the targeting of funds at grammar schools so that all schools can benefit.

The Conservative government has announced £50 million of funding exclusively for grammar schools whilst other Southend schools are struggling to make ends meet.
On hearing of the plans to award grammar schools extra funding Ms Dalton, who is a local school governor said
All our young people deserve the resources needed to give them a high quality education. We are 8 years into Tory austerity cuts. Many schools are struggling to make ends meet and can’t even afford basic resources like pens and books. This so called investment ignores the schools that need the most help and yet again proves that the Tories are only interested creating elites whilst the majority are left to suffer the impact of their austerity measures.A Labour government will invest properly in all our children’s futures and create an education system for the many, not the selected few.
